State urging Zippy’s customers to change credit and debit card information following security breach

Security breaches among businesses – not "uncommon" That's according to Office of Consumer Protection director Stephen Levins he considers the "Zippys" breach "very concerning" STEPHEN LEVINS: "It's a fair assumption that bad people have your credit card number, or debit card number, your name, the expiration date, and they have the security code" There are 24 Zippys locations statewide

Levins believes it's in the thousands STEPHEN LEVINS: "Zippys is a very popular restaurant chain here in Hawaii" The state is launching an investigation into the Zippys security breach Meanwhile, the state urges consumers who have eaten at Zippys in the last 6 months to get their credit and debit card information changed "It's a hassle, right It's a big hassle to go through this

" "The problem with this, is that you don't know if the card is going to be used inappropriately You don't know if it's going to be used tomorrow, a month from now, or a year from now it's very concerning" Zippy's spent about a month and a half investigating the breach before telling customers about it Levins says it's not unusual for businesses to "wait
